As you may already know, we built vRocket for ourselves. We're developers, engineers, tinkerers, and geeks who love this stuff as much as the next geek, so you may rest assured with the knowledge that we're our own biggest customer. We would never put you on hardware we don't use ourselves for our most critical applications and data.

  • Intel CPU's FTW (that's For The Win)

    We only utilize Intel Xeon CPUs. Each host has from 2 to 4 of these monsters in, for a total of 12-24 physical cores per host (not counting hyper threading). Fast CPU's can't hurt, so we went with the best.

  • SSD's and ZFS!

    We store all of the data on ZFS Pools, each fronted with 1.2TB worth of super fast SSD cache and backed with 15K SAS drives. It's reliable, fast, and inexpensive (compared to SAN/NAS model) and we all benefit in the end. The price is right!

  • Gigabit Uplink Adapters

    Each VPS automatically comes with a 1 Gb/s uplink, regardless of it's size. Unlike some funny guys out there, we understand that the size of the VM does not go proportionally with the size of the pipe. Perfect example: web servers. You want them small and lean, so that you can have more than one, but they each benefit tremendously from a fast uplink.

SmartOS For The Win!

If you never heard of Joyent, you've certainly seen them mentioned on our website numerous times. They are a company behind the really cool, open source operating system called SmartOS (wikipedia). SmartOS is a Unix operating system which combines OpenSolaris technologies like: ZFS, DTrace, and Zones, and it is particularly designed for building cloud infrastructures. Our Engineers have deployed production systems for large Service Providers and Datacenters in US, based on other technologies like VMware, but have never found a better, faster, leaner, or more secure hypervisor than SmartOS, and have therefore based our whole infrastructure on it.

OS Based Hypervisor means that all of your machines run within SmartOS
inside their own super-secure containers called Zones



SmartOS is the only solution in the industry to deploy Zones, a technology that acts as an additional, "steel-wall" that prevents neighboring tenants from attacking other occupants.
